Café co-lab: Your Own Label: Sarah Shapiro on Leaving Corporate Retail and Staying in the Retail Industry

After two decades in corporate retail — spanning merchandising and digital commerce — and a Substack that got acquired by Puck, Sarah Shapiro is building a new Substack, Private Label, and advising and consulting with brands and retailers. Join us for a candid conversation on what it actually takes to bet on yourself.

Sarah Shapiro is a two-decade retail and merchandising executive who built her career at Bloomingdale's, Williams-Sonoma, Clorox and start-ups.In 2019 she launched Retail Diary, growing it into a must-read for founders, CEOs, and editors before Puck acquired it in 2024. She remains a freelance contributor to Puck's Line Sheet. She's now building Private Label, a new Substack for anyone who loves fashion and retail, whether they work in it or just an engaged consumer.
