Join fashion industry copywriters Anne Whiting (SKIMS, Good American), Lindsay Denninger (SPANX, Victoria’s Secret) and Christiane Nickel (Alexander Wang, Saks Fifth Avenue) for a chat about the importance of brand voice, human writing in the age of AI, and how to land and juggle freelance copywriting roles within brand marketing divisions and in the fashion industry at large.
Lindsay Denninger has over 15 years of experience helping iconic luxury, lifestyle, and fashion brands craft their voice and identity, tell their stories, and connect with their audiences across multiple channels. Brands she’s worked with include SPANX, HBOMax, ASICS, American Greetings, Victoria's Secret, Amazon, FSAstore.com, 1800Flowers.com, and more. A two-time Jeopardy! contestant, Lindsay is also an author and ghostwriter. Her first book, You Know You Love Me: An Oral History of Gossip Girl, will be published by Bloomsbury in 2026.
Christiane Nickel is a seasoned omni-channel fashion copywriter with over 12 years of experience shaping brand voice and storytelling across luxury and mass-market fashion. She has worked with leading names in the industry—from Mytheresa.com, Saks.com, and alexanderwang.com to New York & Company and PVH—adapting tone and messaging to meet the demands of diverse platforms and audiences. Guided by a deep understanding of how language fuels brand identity and customer connection, she brings both strategy and storytelling to every brief. With a Master’s in Fashion and Textiles: History, Theory & Museum Practice, she brings a unique cultural and historical lens to her work.
Anne Whiting is a communications manager and brand marketer, public relations specialist, and lead copywriter and copyeditor. Her resume spans major fashion companies like Milk Studios, Perry Ellis, and now shapewear and loungewear powerhouse SKIMS. She also lends her voice to nonprofit ventures in the sustainable fashion space, such as the Sanitation Foundation and the NYC Fair Trade Coalition. She enjoys working with company leaders to create, match, and amplify their unique brand tone, helping adapt brand voice to various channels and audiences. She loves collaborating with marketing department teams to achieve the best brand messaging practices. (It’s like having a writing team behind an SNL skit or a TV show!) Her educational writing qualifications include a postgraduate degree in Fashion Marketing from Parsons School of Design, a Masters in Arts & Culture Journalism from Columbia University, and a BA in Literature from Boston University.
